43K Wilderness Solutions is looking for two full-time Park Supervisors to lead teams of park technicians working in each of our operating areas: Cape Scott Provincial Park and Strathcona Provincial Park. During the operating season, your time will be focused on supervising a team of 3 - 6 park technicians to provide excellent customer service to our park visitors and complete maintenance tasks in backcountry trails and campgrounds.

43K Wilderness Solutions is an outdoor recreation company based on Vancouver Island with offices in the Comox Valley and Port McNeill. We operate Cape Scott and Strathcona Provincial Parks, design and construct outdoor recreation facilities, and provide professional consulting and management services. We have a strict no pets policy - we love pets, we have pets but we cannot bring them to work or camp.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service and park visitor experience
- Supervise park technicians in backcountry settings to ensure park operations are completed on schedule, budget and to quality expectations
- Maintain a variety of outdoor recreation facilities, including pit toilets/ urine diverting toilets, trails and campgrounds to BC Park Facility Standards and Specifications
- Orient, train and evaluate staff throughout the season
- Develop schedules and work plans, and delegate to team members
- Complete quality control field reviews
- Maintain detailed and accurate park records
- Cash handling
- Manage park supplies such as cleaning, fuel, propane, etc.
- Maintain equipment such as chainsaws, brush cutters, etc.
- Work with BC Parks’ reservation system
- Implement site-specific OH&S Work Plans and Environmental Management Plans
- Occasionally direct subcontractors and suppliers
Relevant Qualifications
- Customer service, hospitality, tourism experience
- A positive attitude and ability to motivate co-workers and crews
- Experience supervising teams in operational settings
- Experience working with BC Parks Facility Standards, Specifications, Quality Control framework, reservation system, etc.
- Excellent communication skills
- Power tool experience
- Chainsaw experience
- Trailer towing experience
- Understand WorkSafe BC requirements and recognition of hazards
- Natural Resource diplomas and degrees, Parks Law courses are considered an asset but not required
Required Certifications
- Class 5 Driver’s License
- Basic First Aid and transportation endorsement
Job Conditions
- Work in un-serviced and remote areas
- Work independently, or with 1-2 crew members
- Work and live in rustic accommodations (cabins, yurts, tents, etc.)
- Work on 5-10-day shifts
- Must be flexible and willing to adapt to unforeseen schedule and workplan changes due to weather or other environmental conditions
- Must be willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays as required – hours of work will vary with the season
- Hiking an average of 10-15km/ day with a 30+lb backpack
- Working in adverse weather conditions
- Driving on gravel roads
- Working in and around helicopters and boats
- Start date early to mid-May to Labor Day (Cape Scott) and October (Strathcona) with the potential of a contract extension for the right candidate

Benefits Package
- Competitive hourly wage ranges from $23.25- 28.50 based on experience and ability
