43K Wilderness Solutions is looking for seasonal, full-time Frontcountry Park Technicians to work in Strathcona Provincial Park. We are looking for people keen to engage with park users and complete maintenance tasks in the campgrounds and day-use areas in the Buttle Lake corridor.

43K Wilderness Solutions is an outdoor recreation company based on Vancouver Island with offices in the Comox Valley and Port McNeill. We operate Cape Scott and Strathcona Provincial Parks, design and construct outdoor recreation facilities, and provide professional consulting and management services. We have a strict no pets policy - we love pets, we have pets but we cannot bring them to work or camp.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service and park visitor experience
- Maintain a variety of outdoor recreation facilities, including campgrounds, garbages, pit toilets, trails, to required Facility Standards and Specifications
- Sell firewood
- Facilitate boat rentals
- Execute workplans
- Record detailed and accurate park records
- Cash handling - collect park user fees
- Use and maintain equipment such as brush cutters, lawnmowers, leaf blowers etc.
Relevant Qualifications
- Customer service, hospitality, tourism experience
- A positive attitude and ability to motivate co-workers
- Cash handling
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience working in all weather conditions
- Backcountry hiking and camping experience
- Basic power tool/construction experience
- Trailer towing experience
- Chainsaw experience
- PCOC or higher, Marine First Aid and boating experience, not necessary for all positions but an asset
- Outdoor fieldwork experience
- Natural Resource diplomas and degrees, Parks Law courses are considered an asset
Required Certifications
- Class 5 Driver’s License
- Basic First Aid
Job Conditions
- Working in un-serviced and remote areas
- Work independently or in teams of 1-2 to deliver park services
- Working and living in rustic accommodations (cabins, yurts, tents, etc.)
- Working on 4- 5 day shift
- Driving on gravel roads
- Working in and around helicopters and boats
- Working in adverse weather conditions (think heat and some rain)
- Must be flexible and willing to adapt to unforeseen schedule and workplan changes due to weather or other environmental conditions
- Must be willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays as required – hours of work will vary with the season
- Most positions start early to mid-June and finish on Labour Day, with a few positions starting as early as April 1 and ending end of September/mid-October

Benefits Package
- Competitive hourly wage ranging from $19.25-$21.00 based on experience and ability
