This could look like providing park information, answering questions, collecting fees and educating users on responsible use of the parks. Describe a challenging customer service experience you had and some strategies you used to turn it around. * Our jobs require us to lead and work with team members in all weather conditions. This may mean completing trailwork in the rain and mud, camping alone in the rain, or maintaining park facilities in less than ideal weather conditions. How did it go? * You will spend quite a bit of time working independently and from time to time in small teams of 2-3. Are you comfortable working independently in remote, wilderness locations? * While working and living in the parks on shift you will often be in remote, wilderness environments for multiple days at time. Imagine a tent on a big sandy beach on the North Island or at a subalpine lake in Strathcona. Instead of a tent, it could be a cabin on the beach or at the lake. Some locations will have data and Internet access while others will not. Some will have running water and electricity, while others will not. Do you have experience living and working in a remote camp environments? Please explain. * Our job sometimes requires us to pack heavy bags which may include food for multiple days, tools, PPE, first aid kits, and shelter supplies. Can you carry a 40lb backpack on a multi-day beach hike through some of the most beautiful beaches on the pacific ocean? What about through the mountains on your way to a turquoise sub alpine lake? Can you do this while surveying and taking notes about trail conditions? Once you arrive at your destination, you will be putting those tools and equipment to use completing repairs and maintenance. In the frontcountry we have trucks that facilitate a majority of our work, but from time to time you will be required to carry a pack with all tools and equipment to do maintenance on day use trails.
